Cherry blossom season...
...is my favorite time of year, no question. Man, if I could only bottle that scent. We have a gorgeous tree in our backyard. It's actually crabapple, and has white blossoms, which I like even better than the pink cherry blossoms. It's gorgeous and smells absolutely heavenly. Here's a few pics, two taken from underneath, looking up through the branches, and one showing more of the tree.

In other news, sadly, I'm going to be starting a full-time job in April. I've been self-employed for the last few years and while the flexibility has been amazing, especially with a little one, the money is just not what it needs to be. Also, it's been pretty isolating - I mostly work from home, often in my pj's, and that really does not help my depression. I think I need to be up and about and interacting with other human beings for my mental health. Don't get me wrong, I'm an introvert, but almost no human interaction, and sitting on my butt all day? Not a recipe for a happy Sky.

So wish me luck, guys - I'm hoping that the job will be fun and the people will be nice. I'm going to have a 45 minute train commute each way, so I'm hoping to use some of that time for writing.

What's up with all of you?

And now I'm off to pick up little dude from the babysitter. I'll try to post some new pics of him later.

Re: Welcome back to the grind, I guess
Yeah, the grind is definitely not fun - I was fleeing from it when I decided to become self-employed. But it wasn't all horrible - there were aspects I liked. I'm hoping to find those things again.

I believe you that the commute is going to drive me crazy, especially since the BART ride is 45 mins, but the complete commute, door to door, is closer to an hour and a half.

But, I guess you do what you gotta do, y'know? Living anywhere in the bay area is horribly expensive but I wouldn't want to live anywhere else... so, I guess I gotta pay the bills.

Sometimes this whole "adulthood" gig sucks rocks.

It's sentences like this where I almost wish LJ had a "like" or "+1" button. Because, this, SOOOO HARD!
