Knitting Pics
I'm going to be making two knitting offers for help_pakistan in addition to my fic offerings. I've been wanting to get back to knitting so this will be a good jump-start.

I'll do a separate post with links to all my offerings after I've made them, but first I have to do this post so that I can have a link to pics of my work for my offers. -whew- If you can follow that, I salute you!

Warning: picspam. Not dial-up friendly at all. In fact, this post HATES dial-up. "Die in a fire, dial-up," says this post. ;)

Yeah, both knitting and crocheting are skills you have to keep up with or you forget them. At least, I do. It's been a while since I've done any knitting so I'm sure I'll be rusty.

Oooh, a yellow/blue science/command scarf is an awesome idea! Sorry your hands wouldn't cooperate for it.

Damn you! *shakes puny fist* Now I'm going to have to do a color-chart for the Starfleet Insignia so I can knit it on an in-the-round scarf (because, you know, colorwork and scarves not such a great mix.) :)

Ack, don't blame me! It was 7ofeleven's fault! *points*

But ya know, you could do that scarf as an offer for help_pakistan because it sounds AWESOME... :D

Darn, why don't I have a knitting icon?

You might want to try knitting if you have difficulties with crochet; generally speaking (I'm a freak) knitters don't crochet very well, and many crocheters can't knit.

Crochet is faster than knitting, mind.

Kitty butt!

I love the knitting, too, and I'm truly tempted to bid on one. I should get started on my own crocheting, but I have that problem where I'm afraid to make a mistake so I end up not even doing it. Blah.

Would be thrilled if you bid! The nice thing about knitting and crocheting is that it's easy to rip out and redo if you mess it up. :D

*Glomphs* the other knitter.

*Steals the kitty and runs*

Heehee- random napping shot at the end = \o/
*flops down next to you and kitty*

It is quite possible that I will bid on a scarf. I like scarves. And helping. Your blanket is GORGEOUS.

Hee hee, yeah, I have no idea why I was upside-down on the bed, but then the kitty stapled me (that's what we call it around our house when you've been sat upon) and then of course I couldn't move!

And thank you so much! I would love it if you bid on a scarf!

xoxo

That blanket (especially) is gorgeous!

And LOL, one of my cats (I have 2) does that to me as well. ;-)

Aww, thank you! Hee hee, kitties are the best. Right now I only have the one and she's very elderly and cranky and wouldn't take well to a new companion, but someday I'll have a pair again. :)

You do beautiful work! I'm still struggling with cables... (Mostly because I'm too terrified to start!)

I was wondering if you'd be interested in sharing your blanket pattern? My sister is going to have a baby soon, and I'm having trouble finding a baby blanket pattern I like enough to work on for weeks. Yours looks so lovely and soft. I know some knitters are proprietary of their patterns, but I just thought I'd ask.

Cheers!

Thank you! This is the only pattern with cables I've ever done, and they were surprisingly easy. The pattern for the scarf is free and it is here.

The blanket pattern I'm happy to share, but it's from a booklet, so if you want to pm me with your email addy, or just email me at skyblue_reverie at comcast dot net, I will scan and email it to you.

I agree about it being hard to find a good pattern for a baby blanket - lots of them are just too frilly or lacy for my taste. As far as softness goes, I've knitted this in a few different yarns, from a baby cotton blend to a soy blend. It comes out differently depending on the yarn you pick, but my main criteria are soft and machine washable. Babies being the messy creatures that they are. :D
