Oh my. The development with Kirk is intriguing and that was some hotness right there. I think for me it's the thought of hours and hours of practice and Pike's restraint that did it. Guh! And the chapter ending... *flails*

w00t! Glad you found it hot, bb! :D

Kirk just canNOT keep his cute little button nose out of this fic. He keeps butting in. ;)

Thanks for the comment, hon! ♥

I should always reply very late because then I have time to read not only the story but also the comments of all fellow addicts and absorb their wisdom.

Very interesting installment and most comments I'd have made have been said already, so let me only address one meta thing. Upon reading Chris' message, my inner Jim was all "hu? crap!"

Take care of yourself, son,

This paternal thingy here, I don't really believe it. McCoy nudges Chris into it, and Chris would like to turn the competitive situation between Jim and himself into something like father-son but I think Jim knows right away it's bullshit and on closer inspection, Chris would know that too. Jim doesn't need a mentor any longer; once Chris has the Exeter, they will be even more almost-eye-to-eye than before and whatever paternal moments Chris may have had once, they're quite gone. They need to find a new base to deal with each other and they're not there yet, but whatever it will be, it's not paternal IMO.

It is a triangle because it doesn't need sex to be one, and it will be quite interesting how they'll balance it out.

And duh, you and your cliffhangers! :P

I blame mga1999 for the cliffhangers! :P

It'll be interesting to see how the Jim/Pike relationship evolves. I do think that there's an element of the paternal to it, but obviously that's not the only thing it is. There's so many conflicting loyalties and desires and duties and threads of affection between these three - endless fodder for different fanfic permutations, for sure.

And ITA that the peeps who comment here are super intelligent and insightful! I always love reading the fb because it brings up such good points.

Thanks for the comment, hon!
...a kind of sweet metaphysical blur...: captainmccoyhitlikehammers on March 22nd, 2010 09:44 pm (UTC)
You know, it's a really good thing that I can type my responses to your awesome. Because I've lost my voice entirely, and with the cough I've got, when I try to speak, I sound like a seal. But, fear not - typing will make certain that you cannot avoid my SQUEEEEES of delight, sans-seal-barking! ;D

But yes: brilliant, brilliant, BRILLIANT, as always; and can I just say that I love your Jim? LOVE your Jim. And the way you juxtapose the angst and the real challenges of being in a relationship with the steaming hot sex... just... GUH. I mean... seriously. I'm having a bit of trouble with the breathing thing, what with being sick, but you ladies aren't helping in the slightest with the sheer level of HOT. *fans self* Not that I'm complaining. Definitely not complaining. And I have to admit: you've both managed to remove my trademark cliff-hanger-pissyness. Generally, I hate cliff-hangers. But it doesn't even matter when you write them, because you distract me so well with all the rest of the immeasurable AWESOME, that I don't even remember to be irritated by the cliff-hanger. So, yeah: that takes MAD SKILLZ. Which you HAVE LEIK WOAH.

In any case, I think I'm going to go curl up in bed, open this on my laptop, and enjoy it all over again. <3

Oh, darling. I think I'm going to go curl up in bed, open your comment on my laptop, and make sweet sweet love to it all night long.

I'm sorry that you're not feeling well, bb. *sends lots of healing vibes and virtual mccoys to heal you*

I'm glad you love Jim. His reactions are fun to brainstorm. He just can't keep his nose out of Pike's and Len's business. So awesome that the angst/hotness combo is working! It's not always an easy balance to maintain, but we both feel like both of those elements are really important. So thank you for saying such nice things about that!

Haha, cliffhangers. I HATE THEM TOO. mga1999 makes me do them, for like dramatic tension or some crap. Pffft. :P But I'm glad that they don't irritate you too much. In the event that you change your mind, please to be directing your rage at mga1999, okay? *hides behind her* In any event, I'm just about to post the next part. Like, in 5 minutes. :D

Thank you as always for saying such ridiculously nice things. And get lots of rest & feel better soon, k hon?

Thank you so much for your no-doubt insightful, cogent, and witty remarks. Unfortunately, they seem to be in a language that I'm not familiar with.

Oh. "Keyboard smash"? OH! Awesome! Well, thank you, then, bb! *smishes you all up*

Evil cliffhanger again, I'm less worried about this one as I get the feeling Len is off somewhere getting hammered......
And OMG......bondage, blindfolds and jealous sex.....damn that's hot....
Feeling bad for Chris, he really is trying and he got dealt such a shit hand after the Narada....it wouldn't hurt for Jim (and maybe Len too, just a little) ....to also get his head out his arse and meet him half way - after all he does have his damn ship!

:D I'll be curious to see your reaction to the next part.

NGL, I'm a bit enamored with writing bondage & jealousy. Expect to see more of that from me. ;)

Yeah, Chris is struggling, poor guy. But then, he's got McCoy as his lover, so really, I can't feel too bad for him. :D

OMG CLIFFHANGER!!! (You two crack me up with the Author's Notes btw. heee.)

I had so many parts I wanted to pull and quote!!! Gosh, this is so good. Kirk is AWESOME. He really tells it like it is, eh?

And I loved this: you get past all my defenses. So just... be careful with me, all right?

Dang Sunday night. I cannot read any more!!!! :(

Thank you! Hee, glad you like the authors' notes. We've been skipping them lately but we should get back to doing them. It's kinda fun. :D

Don't worry if you cannot read more tonight. It'll still be there next time you can get to the compy. Sleep well bb! ♥
