No cheating, now! (i.e., no googling the song lyrics. *g*)

In other news, my Yuletide fic is going pretty well, and it's been quite an experience writing it. A struggle, but also fun. I've been getting tons of help and support from my writing buddies - you know who you are! - and I thank you very much for that. I would've torn all my hair out long before now without you guys. MWAH.

I'm also working on a fluffy smutty schmoopy Christmas J/W fic that will have NO PLOT WHATSOEVER. So there. :p

How are you all doing? Come say hi!

ETA: I'm striking out the ones that have been guessed. Any that aren't guessed by tomorrow or the day after I'll post the artist/title. This is fun! :)

ETA2: I've added some extra lines on the ones that are left. Some of them are obscure, but there's a few I'm surprised no one's gotten!

ETA3: Results up! And at msliz4857's request, a few of my favorites are here (at least, these are my favorites at this moment, although I really like all of them, and I'll post any that you request):

Jeff Buckley, Lover, You Should've Come Over
U2, One
Pink Floyd, Learning to Fly
Blind Faith, Can't Find My Way Home
Sting, Fragile

How do I feel?: coldcold
What do I hear?: Pink Floyd

Can't for the life of me remember the titles of the Fleetwood Mac song, or the Jimmy Eat World.

2. "Sweet Child of Mine," Aerosmith
3. "Never There," Cake
12. "Such Great Heights," The Postal Service. Or Iron & Wine also did a popular cover. I love 'em both. Nearly put that one in my list.
13. "Lost Cause," Beck
14. "One," U2
26. "All Star," Smashmouth. I only know this one because it was in "Mystery Men." (Shut up. I like it. It's got a good cast!)
27. "What I Got," Sublime. Love this one too, though "Santeria" is probably my favorite of theirs.
28. What the hell is this one called? "I Miss You"? Anyway, it's by Everything But the Girl.
31. "Rain King," Counting Crows. I still like big chunks of "August and Everything After," even if I can't stand anything they've done in the past, oh, at least half-a-decade.
41. How could anyone not know this one? A fun thing I've discovered to do at a party is put this on rotation and watch all of the American adults try to sing like an entire chorus of heavily-accented English children...
48. "Love Song," The Cure
50. "Hotel California," The Eagles. One of my old RP buddies had a filk of this called "Hotel Miskatonic."
52. "Don't Dream It's Over," Crowded House
Sky: [j&w] can you resistskyblue_reverie on November 28th, 2006 04:46 am (UTC)
Wow, we have a lot of overlapping musical tastes, don't we? And I see you haven't yet listened to that song I uploaded for you in my last comment to your meme, or you'd have known another one. :D

Yeah, I also love both versions of "Such Great Heights." And I'm digging the Iron & Wine you gave me - I hadn't heard that one!

Hee, Mystery Men was cute. :)

Santeria is my brother's favorite song. I like that one as well, but I like "What I Got" better.

28 - Yep! It's called "Missing."

Totally with you on Counting Crows. August... was a fantastic album. Everything else has been... hit or miss.

41 - Hahaha! That sounds amusing indeed. I know I'd be one of the adults making a fool of myself thusly. :D

Good job! Any requests for a prize?

12 is "Such Great Heights" by Iron and Wine.

30 is "Why" by Annie Lennox.

Uh...

38 is "Found Out About You" by Gin Blossoms (I think...)

39 is "Ants Marching" by the Dave Matthews Band.

And that's all I know that hasn't been already answered.

How are you? ^.^

Hello buddy! I normally avoid participating in memes of any kind, but, since I'm going to leave a comment anyway, why not?

I recognized quite a few, but they've either been guessed already or I just don't remember their specifics. Anyway, what I'm guessing is:

1 : Champagne Supernova; Oasis
10: Dust in the Wind; Kansas
20: Jimmy Eat World. I think the title is 'Little by Little', but I'm probably wrong about that one.

Can't wait to see the fics you're writing! Glad to hear they're coming along well.

I've been a bit busy, but I'll be getting back to your e-mail soon. I'm going to bed now, though. So, uh, g'night!

. Hey, don't write yourself off yet.

I don't remember the title, but it's by Jimmie's Chicken Shack. Right?

21. Into the distance, a ribbon of black, stretched to the point of no turning back

"Learning to Fly" by Pink Floyd. (You? Like that song? *gasps* :D)

Don’t ask me what you know is true, don't have to tell you I love your precious heart.

"Never Tear Us Apart" by INXS.

Big ring around the moon, it's gonna rain hard soon.

"Blood Of Me" by Heather Nova. Fuck yes! I love that album. Man, I love all these songs. (Except for the Jimmie's Chicken Shack one.)

Wow, I never get these. Awesome.

Hee, "Jimmie's Chicken Shack"? No - it's Jimmy Eat World. (Maybe JCS was an earlier name for the band?) Anyway, someone up thread got the group right but the title wrong.

Learning to Fly - YES!!!! THANK YOU!!! I was wondering when someone was going to pick that one up! *awards you the gold star*

Good call on the others! I'm very impressed, especially by the Heather Nova catch!

Yay for common musical tastes! And hey, the Jimmy Eat World one is a good song. It's one of the few upbeat songs I like - it always cheers me up when I'm feeling rotten.

Excellent job! Any requests? My music list is here if you want to peak. :)

47 I wish I knew, for it is hilarious.

Well hello there, my dear! Right you are on Joni Mitchell! I was beginning to despair of finding any other Joni fans on my f-list. :)

29 is "The Drugs Don't Work" by the Verve (someone downthread got it after you posted). I really should not be allowed to own that song. It makes me SO DAMN SAD.

47 is "Still Fighting It" by Ben Folds, again, someone downthread posted the answer. The first line sounds hilarious, but it actually a very moving song, in its own quirky, offbeat way, and one I really love. It was written by BF on the occasion of his first child's birth. Ah, heck, I'll upload it for you or anyone who's interested. It's here. :)
